He received his education at Cobequid Educational Centre (CEC) and later pursued higher studies at Acadia University. Throughout his life, Dave has been driven by a strong sense of community, making a positive impact wherever he goes.

Many people in the area recognize Dave from his previous role as the Assistant Department Chief of the Truro Volunteer Fire Brigade. He displayed unwavering commitment and played a vital role in ensuring the safety of the community. Additionally, Dave's passion for curling led him to participate in the Canadian Firefighters Curling Championships, where he showcased his skills on the ice.

Not only does Dave excel in his professional endeavors, but he also finds time to contribute to the Truro Curling Club as a coach. Through his coaching prowess, he has guided a team to remarkable victories, including two Canadian Junior titles, two Canada Games triumphs, and one Scott Tournament of Hearts success.
