COMMUNITY

The members of the Truro Volunteer Fire Brigade are very community minded and lend their time and energy to many community efforts outside of the day to day commitments of the fire service.

Some of the events and causes we have supported include traffic control services for Truro's annual Pride Parade and Christmas Parade. In recent years we have partnered with both Superstore and Sobeys and the Truro Police Service to help local food banks in the "Battle of the Badges" food drives. Our 1919 American LaFrance (Nancy) is a crowd favorite at any event and member love to show off the truck.

Each fall, we work together with the career staff to host Fire Prevention Week activities at local grade schools and assist with evacuation drills at several seniors' homes. Members also participate in the annual Remembrance Day Parade and Service each year as well as attending a local church to kick of fire prevention week.

Of course, our signature community event is the Walk In Our Boots Open House, hosted each September. Please browse the photos of our members helping out in our town. You can also visit the Walk In Our Boots link to read more on this feature event. Enjoy!!
