I grew up in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario and spent lots of time outside playing sports as well as participating in track and field. Most of my family resided in the Sault, I moved to Nova Scotia at the age of 14.

I have spent most of my working life in the security industry, working for different security companies. I am a level one trained firefighter but not certified.

The first time had the pleasure of sitting in a fire truck I was 3 years old, my mother has since told me that I looked like I belonged there, I would often visit one of Sault Ste Marie's fire stations because at one time I had just lived down the street from it. I wanted to become a firefighter to get more involved in the community of Truro and I thought it would be a great way to do so and it has been a memorable experience so far.

In my spare time I enjoy being with my family whether it's going to the park, beach or just out for a drive, we certainly enjoy our road trips.

As for my firefighting family I certainly do enjoy spending time with some outside of the fire brigade because I feel it makes us more comfortable and trusting while on an emergency scene. I have gained many friends in the fire brigade and I consider some as family especially firefighter Richard Layton and firefighter Steven Neil who has also become my sons godfather.

For the rookies and the ones who are thinking of joining, the Truro fire brigade has a great group of people who are always willing to help each other out whether it be fire related or personal. If you have even the smallest amount of free time there is something you can do in the brigade and who knows, you might even have a busy first week, my fourth day in the brigade we had the "Walker street fire" and what an experience that was.
